New Delhi: The Lok Sabha election 2024 in West Bengal was held in all 7 phases from 19 April to 1 June to elect 42 members of the 18th Lok Sabha. The result will decide the fate of many candidates. The nation awaits a much-longed-for closure with the announcement of the results.
West Bengal, along with Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, will be the only states where the 2024 Indian general election held in all 7 phases.
In many ways, this has been one of the most unique elections in recent times in West Bengal. On one side, the beleaguered ruling Trinamool Congress faces accusations of widespread corruption and misrule.
On the other, the main opposition, the BJP, struggles with a relatively weak grassroots organisation and relies heavily on the ruling party’s failures and anti-incumbency sentiment.
Amid this binary, a third force has emerged—the Left-Congress combine—which aims to break out of the political wilderness it has been in for the past decade.
