This evening, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the final group-stage match of the ongoing IPL 2025 season. The much-awaited encounter will be played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Led by Rajat Patidar, RCB have already qualified for the IPL 2025 playoffs. However, they still have a chance to finish as one of the top two teams in the group-stage. Thus, their upcoming face-off against LSG holds paramount importance for the Royal Challengers, as it can determine their fate heading to the playoffs.
The Royal Challengers are currently placed third in the IPL 2025 points table. They have 17 points under their belt and a win over LSG will take their tally to 19 points. Thus, if RCB outclass the Super Giants tonight, they will confirm their berth in the qualifier 1 against Punjab Kings.
Meanwhile, GT will slip to number three and play the eliminator clash against five-time champions Mumbai Indians.
On the contrary, if LSG conclude their IPL 2025 campaign on a winning note, the points table will remain unchanged. Thus PBKS (19 points) will face GT (18 points) in the qualifier 1, with MI (16 points) and RCB (17 points) taking on each other in the eliminator.
Meanwhile, if the upcoming LSG vs RCB affair concludes without a result for some reason, both teams will earn a point each. Thus, RCB (NRR: +0.255) can pip GT (NRR: +0.254) and claim the second spot based on their marginally better NRR.
