Where Is Kumari Selja? Spotlight Back On Congress Rift As She Distances From Haryana Poll Campaign

Congress Lok Sabha MP Kumari Selja’s absence from the party’s campaign in Haryana has once again brought attention to the internal conflict between Selja and the Hooda camp. She has not been attending the party’s campaigning activities since the last week indicating that all is still not well within the grand old party in the poll-bound state.

According to sources, Selja is upset over the Hooda camp being given more preferential treatment by the party’s high command.

She is also reportedly not happy over Hooda camp candidates getting more ticket than those from her faction despite repeated assurance. “It seems like the polls are being fought only under Hooda’s leadership whereas Selja has been involved in election campaigning for a long time,” a source close to Selja told ABP News.

Among the 90 candidates that have been announced by Congress on all the seats of the state, eight loyalists from the Selja camp have been given the ticket. Sitting MLAs Shalley Chaudhary (Naraingarh), Shamsher Singh Gogi (Assandh), Pradeep Chaudhary (Kalka), and Renu Bala (Sadhaura -SC) are among the Selja supporters who have been pitted by the party.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan (Panchkula), former Assembly Speaker Akram Khan (Jagadhri), and Ramniwas Rara (Hisar) have also got a ticket from the party who belong to the Delja faction.

Meanwhile, Congress leader and former Chief Minister Bhupender Singh Hooda has refuted claims of internal rifts saying there is no factionalism in the party.

“There is no factionalism here. Out of 2500 applicants, 20 stood up, out of which only four are prominent. Now, if only 20 are left then what difference does it make? You see what is the situation in BJP, Anil Vij Saheb is saying one thing and Rao Inderjit is saying something else,” he said during an interview.
