This time it holds a lot more significance since it has come for my performances during my first Test series as captain. I would like to thank the jury for selecting me for this award and my teammates who have been with me during the course of this exciting series. I look forward to continuing my form in the season ahead and bring more laurels for the country. This achievement marks Gill’s fourth ICC Player of the Month award, following his wins in February 2025, January 2023, and September 2023. This innings helped secure a draw and ultimately led to a 2-2 series result.Gill’s Old Trafford performance was particularly significant as India faced a challenging situation. The team had lost two wickets without scoring while needing 311 runs to avoid an innings defeat.Batting at number four, Gill showed exceptional leadership in his first series as captain. His performance has helped India secure the third position in the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. His ability to convert starts into substantial scores, particularly during challenging situations, proved crucial in India’s comebacks throughout the series.
