Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has become the target of the BJP’s jibes again, with Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya calling him a “nautankibaaz [actor]”. The BJP leader’s comments came before Rahul Gandhi’s Samvidhan Sammelan on Wednesday.
Ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to visit Nagpur. During his visit, he will pay tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar at Dikshabhoomi and then address a “Samvidhan Sammelan”. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has slammed Rahul Gandhi’s event, calling it a “drama”. Vijayvargiya claimed: “It [Samvidhan Sammelan] is against the true spirit of constitutional protection and hypocritical.”

Vijayvargiya said that the country should function according to the Constitution and claimed that, while Rahul Gandhi talks about respecting the Constitution, he also allegedly undermines it. Vijayvargiya clarified the BJP’s stance on reservations, stating that the party supports the rights outlined by the Constitution and believes reservations should benefit those who genuinely deserve them.
He accused Rahul Gandhi of attempting to divide society. Vijayvargiya said that while the BJP does not oppose a caste-based census, it should not be used for political gain. He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on “four key groups” — women empowerment, farmer empowerment, youth empowerment, and welfare for the underprivileged.
On Rahul Gandhi’s statement in Telangana that the Congress will “demolish the artificial barrier of 50% reservations”, Vijayvargiya said: “Politics and ‘nautanki’ are separate things. ‘Nautankibaaz’ can never be successful in politics. Politics is a serious matter, and seriousness cannot be seen in Rahulji. This is the reason the public cannot accept him as a leader…We are not against reservation but Rahul Gandhi wants to divide the society. He is doing politics over caste census.”
