Powerful earthquake in Indonesia: 6.7 magnitude quake hits Papua; no tsunami warning issued
A powerful 6.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in Indonesia’s Papua province on Thursday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The seismic event, centred 70 km beneath the earth’s surface, struck approximately 200 km from Abepura, a city with over 62,000 residents. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center confirmed that no tsunami alerts were necessary following the tremor.
