Lucknow Super Giants faces Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday.
Hello and welcome to Sportstar’s LIVE coverage of the IPL 2025 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad, being held in Lucknow on Monday.
The Super Giants, currently seventh in the standings with 10 points in 11 matches, face Sunrisers in a must-win match today in Lucknow. And even if they win, they will need other results to go their way in order to qualify for the Playoffs. Only one spot is up for grabs, with Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings already qualifying for the Playoffs.
Super Giants, along with Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, are still in contention for a Playoffs spot.
Avesh. Bouncer and Kishan is hit on the head. The scoring rate has gone down a bit.
Aiden Markram into the attack. Four towards fine leg for Kishan. Now he sweeps and the ball goes over midwicket for a six! 14 runs from the over.
Digvesh is back. OUT! Abhishek is gone. Wide outside off, he lofts and is caught by Shardul at the deep covers. He falls after scoring 59 off 20 balls. There was a scuffle between Digvesh and Abhishek after that wicket and umpires had to intervene.
Good over for LSG.
Ravi Bishnoi into the attack. In the slot and Abhishek sends the ball over long off for a six! Length ball, Abhishek this time hits it over long on for another maximum. Full ball and this time Abhishek hits the ball dead straight. He reaches his fifty in 18 balls, hitting three consecutive sixes. Drops it short, and Abhishek hits it over the midwicket fielder for another six. Four consecutive sixes. 26 runs off the over.
Avesh Khan into the attack. Short ball and Abhishek pulls behind square leg for four. Abhishek creates room on the leg side, Avesh chases him but the left-hander manages to loft over mid on and get another four. 14 from the over.
Digvesh Rathi into the attack. Short ball and Kishan pulls him towards midwicket for four. He’s bowling it quick and into the pitch. Six runs from the over.
O’Rourke. Slower ball, Abhishek makes room and hits the ball JUST past the mid off fielder and it goes for four. SIX! Full, outside off, and Abhishek lofts over covers. Superb hit again. 12 runs from the over.
Akash Deep. Length outside off and Abhishek smacks the ball over covers for four. Slower ball, Abhishek launches the ball straight for a six. Held that shape for a while. Now Kishan, wide outside off, full and he pounces on it, hitting it through the covers for four. There’s an appeal for caught behind down the leg. Pant is having a word with umpires. A long chat, seems to be something related to who has reviewed. Finally, there’s a review for caught behind now. No bat involved, not out and a wide. 17 from the over.
William O’Rourke, the IPL debutant, into the attack. Atharva goes for a slog, gets a top edge over the slip for four. Wide outside off, width, Atharva cuts past point for another four. Another slog, top edge straight deep third. OUT! O’Rourke gets his maiden wicket. Atharva falls for 13 off nine balls.
Ishan Kishan in at three. He gets off the mark with a glorious six over covers. Super hit.
Akash Deep to begin the proceedings. Atharva Taide and Abhishek Sharma open. Atharva on strike.
On the hips and Atharva pushes the ball towards square leg for four. Abhishek is off the mark with a single. Eight runs from the first over.
That was an eventful final over. Three wickets, two sixes, two wides and a four, and no wonder it felt like that lasted an eternity. A last-ball six by Akash Deep eventually hauled LSG over the 200-run mark. Still, Super Giants would have fancied more on the board, especially after the kind of start Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram gave the team. They added 115 runs in 10.3 overs. After that, Nicholas Pooran was the only one who made a meaningful contribution, scoring a 26-ball 45, with skipper Rishabh Pant also failing and continuing his horrendous form this season.
Remember, LSG needs to win today to remain in contention for the Playoffs. Let’s find out if it can defend this. Stay tuned for live action.
Reddy will bowl the final over. He starts off with a wide down leg-side. SIX! On leg-stump, and Pooran clubs it with disdain over deep midwicket for a huge maximum. Going down leg again and another wide. On leg-stump again and heaved away to deep midwicket for a single by Pooran. He slips at the non-striker’s end and cannot come back for the second. OUT! Slower one outside off, Samad swings and misses and Pooran tries to sneak a bye but is run out at the striker’s end.
Shardul Thakur comes in next to bat as Impact Player. FOUR! He shuffles across very far outside the off-stump and scoops this to the fine-leg boundary. OUT! Wide outside off, Thakur swings and misses and takes off for a single, but is run out at the non-striker’s end. That is also called a wide. So, still two balls left in the innings.
OUT! Samad is cleaned up, as he gets an inside edge swinging across the line and the ball crashing into his stumps.
Akash Deep comes in to face the last ball. SIX! Smashed over wide long-on and what a way to end the innings.
Nicholas Pooran run out (Ishan Kishan) 45 (26b 6×4 1×6)
Shardul Thakur run out (Ishan Kishan/Nitish Kumar Reddy) 4 (1b 1×4)
Abdul Samad b Nitish Kumar Reddy 3 (6b)
Final over for Harshal. Abdul Samad hits a full toss down the ground for a single. Two consecutive wides outside off-stump, as Harshal looks to nail the wide yorker. Another full toss, very wide outside off, and Pooran gets enough bat on it for the ball to run away to the third-man boundary. The third umpire also calls it a no-ball, so that’s five runs. Eight runs off one legal delivery so far.
Fullish delivery on leg-stump and Pooran pumps it to long-on for a single. Short and slow, and Samad is too early into the pull and misses the ball. Harshal feels the batter got some bat on it, and SRH will review the decision. No bat on it, and that will be just a dot ball. Samad cannot make a good connection next ball too, and just a single at long-on as he gets it high off the bat. FOUR! Into the pads, and easily flicked away by Pooran to the boundary behind square. Low full toss to end the over, and driven by Pooran for just a single.
Malinga will finish his quota of overs now. Short ball, Pooran miscues the pull and the ball lands in safe space behind the square-leg region. OUT! Wide outside off, and Badoni ends up slicing it to deep point, with Nitish completing a good low catch. Brilliant slow and short ball to end the over, and Pooran misses the pull.
Ayush Badoni c Nitish Kumar Reddy b Esha Malinga 3 (5b)
Cummins bowls out. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad has named its Impact Player, with Atharva Taide coming in for Zeeshan Ansari. There has been a clear ploy to use the yorker against Pooran, and he seems to be struggling with them. FOUR! After three singles in four balls, Pooran decides to cut loose. Fullish and lifted over mid-off by Pooran for a boundary. A single at long-on for Pooran to end the over.
Harshal again. SIX! High full toss, smashed over deep midwicket by Markram. That’s also a no-ball for height, and Harshal isn’t having the best of days. Low full toss outside off and Markram can only collect a single at deep cover off the free-hit. FOUR! Full on the pads, and flicked away off the toes by Pooran to the fine-leg boundary.
OUT! Slow, dipping full toss, Markram can’t get underneath the ball, and misses it only to lose his stumps.
Ayush Badoni is in. He is off the mark with a single off his first ball. Pooran ends the over with a solid defensive shot back to the bowler.
Aiden Markram b Harshal Patel 61 (38b 4×4 4×6)
Malinga again. Around the wicket to Pooran. Just a couple of singles off the first three balls as Malinga varies his pace well to deceive the batters. FOUR! Angling into Pooran, who beautifully carves this behind point with an open face of the bat to fetch a boundary. Still, just eight runs from the over and time for a strategic timeout!
Cummins comes back. Around the wicket to Pooran. Just a couple of singles to start the over. This is going down leg-side, and called a wide. Ishan does well to collect it behind the stumps. Slow and slightly short, and swatted away by Pooran for a single through square-leg. Excellent yorker to Markram, who digs it out for just a single. Top stuff from Cummins, just six runs from it, and the first one this innings without a single boundary.
Nicholas Pooran comes in at No. 4. A single at long-on for Markram to start the over and he brings up his 28-ball fifty, his fifth of the season. Nitish Kumar Reddy comes around the wicket to Pooran, who gets a lucky inside edge and the ball runs away to the boundary behind him. Clipped behind square-leg by Pooran for a couple more. Good delivery to end the over. Markram gets an inside edge onto his pads as he looks to put the slower delivery away on leg-side. Eight runs from Nitish’s first over this IPL.
Malinga comes back. Pant comes down the track, hacks across the line and misses it totally. He shimmies down the wicket again, and this time pushes the ball to mid-off for a single. Good yorker to Markram, who jams it out, and the ball bounces off the ground and hits the stumps at the non-striker’s end. Slow and low full toss, and just a single for Markram at long-on. FOUR! Short and pulled away behind square by Pant for his first boundary. OUT! Stunning return catch by Malinga. This is a pace-off delivery, fullish, and Pant chipped it just over the bowler, who leapt to his left and clung to the ball with one hand.
Rishabh Pant c & b Eshan Malinga 7 (6b 1×4)
Harsh Dubey bowls out. SIX! Markram smashes the first ball for a huge maximum. OUT! Marsh is finally gone and Harsh finally has his maiden wicket. Marsh ends up slicing the ball as he tries to go inside out and a good diving catc at short-third. Rishabh Pant comes in next.
Mitchell Marsh c Eshan Malinga b Harsh Dubey 65 (39b 6×4 4×6)
Harshal is back. Three dot balls to begin with. Full outside off, Marsh gets a thick outside edge past the keeper for four. Length ball, slapped away towards midwicket for another four. Powerful. Marsh chips and Harshal has caught the ball. However, umpires are checking if the ball has bounced before. It was a low grab. The ball just touched the ground before the catch was taken, not out.
Zeeshan. Markram lofts towards deep covers, Aniket Verma runs in and dives in front but isn’t able to grab the ball. Would’ve been an incredible catch. Short ball, Marsh pulls towards deep midwicket for four.
Harsh is back. Slow in the air, full, Marsh lofts the ball over point for four! LSG has started really well so far, going over 10 runs an over. Fifty for Marsh in 28 balls.
Zeeshan Ansari into the attack. Markram goes off the backfoot and launches the ball over long on for a six! Two runs off the last ball make it 12 runs from the over.
Eshan Malinga into the attack. Length ball, Marsh picks the ball over square leg for a six! Nice way to begin the over. Now Markram. Slightly full, outside off, driven away through the covers for four. A single to end the PowerPlay.
Harshal Patel into the attack. Back of the length, Marsh transfers weight on the backfoot and lofts the ball over covers for a six! Terrific shot. Now Markram places the ball just past the backward point and gets a four. 12 runs from the over.
Harsh. Down the leg wide and there was an opportunity to stump Markram but Ishan Kishan isn’t able to collect the ball. Missed opportunity. Full on the pads, Marsh lofts towards midwicket and gets a four. SIX! This time it’s Markram. Fuller ball, and he goes straight over the bowler’s head. Another boundary! He once again goes straight and ends the over with a four. 17 runs from the over.
Cummins. Hitting the hard length on the stumps, Markram defends the first two deliveries. Slightly full, Markram drives the ball straight past mid off for four. Full on the pads, Marsh pushes towards midwicket and gets a double. Nine runs from the over.
Harsh Dubey, the debutant, into the attack. Left-arm spin early by SRH. Beats Marsh off the first ball. Next ball, full, Marsh goes on knee and slogs the ball over long on for a maximum. A single off the fourth ball. Aiden Markram is off the mark with a single off his first ball today. Eight runs from the over.
Pat Cummins to take up the new ball. Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram open the innings.
Wide outside off, back of the length, and Marsh smacks the first ball of the game over covers for four! Cummins gets his length back, two dot balls. Short ball, and Marsh pulls the over midwicket for a six! Squares up Marsh off the next ball with an away swinger. Single off the last ball. 11 from the over.

Harsh Dubey is making his debut today for SRH. William O’Rourke is making IPL debut for LSG.
“Travis Head misses out and also Unadkat misses out for personal reasons, Harsh Dubey and Taide come in,” Pat Cummins says.
The square boundaries are skewed – 60 metres and 69 metres, while the straight boundary is 75 metres long. The pitch is a beauty for batters, but the new ball could skid on. The chasing team will hold the aces today.
Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Daniel Vettori had revealed on Sunday that SRH opener Travis Head contracted COVID-19, thereby delaying his return to India for the remainder of IPL 2025’s league stage. The southpaw is expected to arrive today, placing him in doubt for Sunrisers’ match against Lucknow Super Giants.

The eight-day suspension of the Indian Premier League threw a spanner in the works for BCCI, the international cricket calendar and fans, among other stakeholders. However, the break might just be what Lucknow Super Giants needed to steady a stuttering campaign as the Playoff race heats up.
Three defeats on the trot, and four in the last five, have left its knockout hopes hanging by the thinnest of threads. LSG needs to win its three remaining matches, starting with the clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Ekana Cricket Stadium here on Monday, and hope for the teams above them to stumble for an improbable top-four finish.
All eyes will be on skipper Rishabh Pant, the Rs. 27 crore signing who has failed to live up to promised potential. SRH, though, remains one of the teams he has relished facing. Pant is one of only seven players to have scored more than 550 runs against SRH and has the highest strike rate (144.61) among them.
Super Giants, led by Shardul Thakur’s four-fer, laid bare the weak spots in Sunrisers’ armour when the two met in Hyderabad last month. It was the first of four consecutive defeats for SRH, which put it on the fast lane to elimination. However, the visitor’s washed out game against Delhi Capitals showed how it can perform when the weight of expectations is off its shoulders, something that should keep LSG on its toes.
Having lost star pacer Mayank Yadav to injury once again, the pressure will be on uncapped Digvesh Rathi, Shardul Thakur and Akash Deep to ensure that LSG — with the worst economy rate in the PowerPlay (10.54) this season — does not get taken to the cleaners by SRH’s explosive batting arsenal, which might be missing Travis Head after the Australian’s recent bout with COVID-19.
Lucknow Super Giants: Rishabh Pant (c), David Miller, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh, Avesh Khan, Will O’Rourke, Ravi Bisnoi, Abdul Samad, Aryan Juyal, Akash Deep, Himmat Singh, M Siddharth, Digvesh Singh, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ayush Badoni, Akash Singh, Shamar Joseph, Prince Yadav, Yuvraj Chaudhary, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Arshin Kulkarni, Matthew Breetzke.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: Pat Cummins (c), Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klassen, Nitish Reddy, Ishan Kishan, Mohammad Shami, Harshal Patel, Rahul Chahar, Harsh Dubey, Atharva Taide, Abhinav Manohar, Simarjeet Singh, Zeeshan Ansari, Jaydev Unadkat, Kamindu Mendis, Aniket Verma, Eshan Malinga, Sachin Baby.
