IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans Bring In Kusal Mendis, Will O'Rourke Replaces Injured Mayank Yadav In LSG Squad – Jagran English

IPL 2025: GT have brought in Kusal Mendis as Jos Buttler's replacement, as the England batter will not be available for the playoffs due to international duties if the Shubman Gill-led side manages a top-four finish.
IPL 2025 Replacements: Gujarat Titans have named Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis as a temporary replacement for Jos Buttler in the playoffs of IPL 2025, should they get there. The IPL 2025 is all set to resume on May 17, and GT will be up against Delhi Capitals in their next match on Sunday.
Buttler is available for Gujarat’s remaining three league matches but will head back soon after England duty. The veteran batter is part of both squads for the white-ball series against West Indies at home, starting on May 29. Mendis arrives having never played in the IPL before, with a T20 strike rate of 137.43 in 167 innings. He joins for INR 75 Lakh.
Buttler has been in remarkable form with the bat for the Titans and is currently the fifth top run-getter in the tournament with 500 runs to his name in 11 innings at an average of 71.43. He made a consistent trio alongside Sai Sudharsan and skipper Shubman Gill.
Gujarat have been the most consistent side in the IPL 2025 and continues to stay at the top of the points table with eight wins and 16 points under their belt after 11 matches. They are all set to make it to the playoffs.

On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants have suffered a major blow as their pace sensation Mayank Yadav, retained for INR 11 Crore before this season, will once again serve time on the sidelines with a back injury. The fast bowler, who made a return from injury midway through the 2025 season, featured only in two fixtures, finishing with figures of 2-40 and 0-60 against MI and PBKS, respectively.
LSG have replaced Mayank with New Zealand pacer William O’Rourke, who comes in for a price of INR 3 crore.
The Rishabh Pant-led side has looked in disappointing touch so far in the tournament, but still remains alive in the race to make it to the IPL 2025 playoffs. They are placed seventh with five wins and 10 points after 11 matches. They will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad at home on Monday.
Notably, the IPL 2025 was suspended by the BCCI for a week due to the India-Pakistan military tensions. The tournament will resume for the rest of the 17 matches, with the league matches set to be played at six different venues.
