The ruling Mahayuti alliance maintained power in Maharashtra as it registered a resounding victory by winning 230 of the 288 assembly seats. The new government was sworn in on December 5 with Devendra Fadnavis returning as the chief minister while Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar took oath as deputy chief ministers.
Meanwhile, the cabinet expansion of the new Maharashtra government is likely to take place on December 11 and 12, according to a PTI report quoting sources.
The Ajit Pawar-led NCP is likely to remain in Finance while the BJP is expected to keep the Home Department as in the previous Eknath Shinde-led government, as per the report.

The winter session of the Assembly will begin in Nagpur, the state’s second capital, on December 16.
