Charley Hull, the English golfer, shared a big injury update at the 2025 Kroger Queen City Championship in Cincinnati, Ohio. On Friday, September 12, after finishing her second round, Hull told reporters she actually tore a ligament in her ankle. She explained that when she fell, she heard a loud pop and thought she had broken it. Doctors later confirmed the ligament had snapped. Even with pain, Hull has pushed through the week and is tied for second place, just two shots behind leader Chanettee Wannasaen at 11-under par.

When asked about her ankle during the post-round press conference, Hull gave an honest answer. “I actually like tore it,” she said. “When I fell down, I heard a pop and thought I broke my ankle. I got an MRI and the surgeon told me it snapped. That was freaky. It’s hurting a little bit today because it’s my second week on the trot, but I’m getting there.”Charley Hull played her opening round on Thursday, September 11, and shot 68. On Friday, she followed with a strong 65, giving her a total of 133 strokes after two rounds. That score put her in a tie for second with Thailand’s Jeeno Thitikul and Germany’s Olivia Cowan. Hull is only two strokes behind Thailand’s Chanettee Wannasaen, who leads at 13-under par.Other top names also had good starts. Sweden’s Maja Stark, Korea’s Sei Young Kim, and American Gigi Stoll are all tied for fifth place. With two more rounds to go, the weekend in Cincinnati looks set for a close battle at the LPGA Tour event.

Charley Hull has a busy schedule. Just last month, she was runner-up at the AIG Women’s Open in Scotland on August 11. On the LPGA Tour, she finished fourth at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore, 12th at the U.S. Women’s Open, and 21st at the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open.Even while dealing with injuries, Hull has tried to keep her spirits high. On Wednesday, September 10, she shared photos on Instagram with the caption, “Little bit of golf, little bit of living.” One picture showed her on the greens in a black outfit, while another showed her enjoying a meal off the course.
