Aviation expansion: IndiGo to start direct Mumbai-Copenhagen flights from Oct 8; marks entry into Nordics

IndiGo is set to add Copenhagen to its international network from October 8, marking the airline’s entry into the Scandinavian region. The new services will be operated three times a week from Mumbai, expanding its reach further into Northern Europe. The flights will use Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft taken on wet/damp lease from Norse Atlantic Airways, IndiGo said on Tuesday. Copenhagen will become the carrier’s 44th international and 138th overall destination, PTI reported.“With growing demand for travel between India and Northern Europe, we will be connecting Mumbai to Copenhagen, marking IndiGo’s entry into the Scandinavian region. This expansion strengthens our presence in Europe, offering Copenhagen as a gateway to the Nordic region for Indian travellers,” said Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo.IndiGo said the direct link would provide Indian passengers with efficient access to the Nordics while strengthening trade, education and tourism ties between the two regions. The carrier currently operates more than 2,200 daily flights, connecting over 90 domestic and 40 international destinations. Out of a fleet of 400 aircraft, 51 were grounded as of September 15, with the rest operational, according to aircraft tracking website planespotter.com.
