IPL 2026: Rinku Singh To CSK? 3 Teams The Attacking Batter Can Be A Perfect Fit For – Cricket.com

Rinku Singh was retained by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for INR 13 Cr. He was cited as one of the best retentions. But the Uttar Pradesh-born man did not have a good IPL 2025 season, the second time running. However, he was exposed more because, unlike 2024, this time around, even the team did not have a great season.
Rinku, who scored 168 runs in 2024, managed only 206 in the next season, being an average batter in both seasons.
As a result, we might see other teams reaching out to KKR to trade Rinku, although it is nearly impossible to even think that he would be released by the franchise. However, just in case he is indeed traded, here are three teams that he could be a perfect fit for.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had their worst ever season, finishing last-10th in the points table for the first time ever. It was due to various reasons, but one of the most important ones amongst them was the lack of a proper finisher.
CSK’s middle-order (batters 4-7) scored 1,194 runs at a strike rate of 137.6 in IPL 2025, while the contribution of the lower order (batters 8-11) was a meagre 116 runs at a strike rate of 100. This clearly suggests that they need a finisher, as MS Dhoni could no longer do that job, and nobody else has taken that responsibility.
Thus, Rinku Singh could perfectly fit into the MSD’s scheme of things as a finisher at number five or six.

Rinku comes from Uttar Pradesh and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) represent the same state. Moreover, LSG needed an Indian finisher as Ayush Badoni, Abdul Samad, and Shahbaz Ahmed were not good enough.
Since none of the players playing for LSG have that real Uttar Pradesh connection, apart from Digvesh Rathi (a Delhi Boy) with the crowd, getting Rinku in the trade would solve two problems at once for LSG. He would be the local connector and an Indian finisher as well.

While the problem of a finisher for CSK was prominent, it was latent in the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and hurt them quite a lot in IPL 2025. Although both their designated finishers- Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer-stuck at 156 and 145, respectively, they failed to do the job when it mattered the most, bottling at least four chases and eventually their chance to make it to the playoffs back to back.
There are also rumours that Sanju Samson might be traded to CSK from RR. In that case, another player with an aura-Rinku Singh, could be a great addition to the RR unit.
