Several key players are unavailable for both sides. Shardul Thakur and Aiden Markram have left the LSG squad for national duties. For RCB, Jacob Bethell has left for international duty, while Aussie finisher Tim David is doubtful for this clash after suffering a hamstring injury in the last game.
As the two teams aim to end their league campaigns on a winning note, The Sporting News brings you the live updates, scorecard, and all the key events from the LSG vs RCB match.
Thank you for being with us throughout the league stage. The intensity only goes up from here as it’s time for the knockout round. We will see you there!
End of match: RCB won by 6 wickets
RCB have pulled off an unforgettable run chase, hunting down their highest-ever IPL total- 228, with 8 balls to spare, thanks to a sensational knock from Jitesh Sharma.
With this victory, RCB have officially qualified for Qualifier 1, giving themselves two chances to reach the IPL 2025 final.
It looked bleak when Virat Kohli departed after a fine start, leaving RCB with 105 runs still needed from 52 balls. But what followed was sheer madness as we witnessed a breathtaking assault led by Jitesh who held his nerve under immense pressure and played the innings of his life.
End of 10 overs: RCB- 100/1
This was another exciting passage of play for RCB. They continued scoring at a brisk pace, adding 49 runs in these four overs, but the phase also saw them lose two important wickets in quick succession.
William O’Rourke turned the game momentarily with a brilliant over. First, he dismissed Rajat Patidar (14 off 7). Just one ball later, he trapped Liam Livingstone plumb in front for a golden duck.
Despite the setbacks, RCB didn’t let the scoring rate drop. Mayank Agarwal, who came in after the double blow, got going straight away with a flurry of boundaries. At the halfway mark, RCB are 115/3 with Kohli well set on 53 off 28.
End of powerplay: RCB- 66/1
RCB got off to a flying start, thanks to an explosive opening partnership between Virat Kohli and Phil Salt. They hammered 31 runs in just the first two overs and set the tone early on.
However, the momentum slowed down slightly after that. Digvesh bowled a tight over to pull things back. Avesh Khan’s over went for 10 but Akash Singh brought the breakthrough by dismissing Salt with a clever slower ball.
RCB finished the powerplay at 66/1- 31 runs in the first 2 overs, followed by 35 runs in the next 4. Kohli remained unbeaten on 33 off 16, with Rajat Patidar just getting started.
End of innings – LSG – 227/3
Lucknow finished strongly on 227 for the loss of three wickets in their quota of 20 overs, thanks to their skipper Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 118 off 61 deliveries.
The 152-run partnership with Mitchell Marsh laid the foundation for a strong finish. The skipper, along with Nicholas Pooran, stitched up a 49-run partnership to ensure that LSG goes into the dressing room with a lot of breathing space.
RCB need 228 runs to win and seal their spot in the top two of the points table.
End of 15 overs: LSG – 164/1
Pant has his eyes set on a century now, as he is playing his trademark shots effortlessly in this match after an otherwise disastrous season. Marsh, too, brought up his half-century, as the Australian continues his fine touch with the bat in the 18th edition.
Marsh (55) and Pant (83) will look to maximize the last five overs and get to a score past 220.
End of 10 overs: LSG – 100/1
Rishabh Pant brought up his second half-century of the season as he swept Suyash Sharma around square leg to pick up a boundary. Marsh has been taking it a tid bit slow today, providing ample space for his skipper to play freely.
Marsh (26) and Pant (52) will look to build on the good start and try and squeeze a few more quick runs before the finishers take over.
End of powerplay: LSG – 55/1
Debutant Matthew Breetzke started off well with a couple of boundaries but was hard done by Nuwan Thushara’s slower delivery that uprooted the Protea’s off-stump.
Mitchell Marsh (15) and Rishabh Pant (20) will look to build a partnership and take the innings forward.
7:30 pm: The game is underway in Lucknow! Mitchell Marsh takes strike. Nuwan Thushara will start the proceedings for RCB.
7:00 pm: TOSS! RCB won the toss and chose to bowl first.
5:30 pm: The toss is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. IST.
