Rishabh Pant is leading Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025. The 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batter was signed for Rs 27 crore by the Lucknow-based franchise in the mega auction last year, but he has failed to deliver with the bat this year. Amid Pant’s poor show with the bat, it was reported by a journalist that the Lucknow-based franchise would release Pant, who is the most expensive player in IPL history, but the news didn’t go down well with him.
Pant took to X on Thursday (May 22) to blast the news by tweeting, “I understand fake News gives more traction To content but let’s not built everything around it . Little sense and credible news will help more rather making fake news with agenda . Thanks have a good day . Let’s be responsible and sensible what we put out on social media."

Pant will be seen in action for Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday during their 13th league match of the IPL 2025 season against Gujarat Titans. The match is scheduled to take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
In 12 matches played so far for LSG, with the help of one half-century, Pant has only managed to score 135 runs. The left-handed wicketkeeper-batter would like to come up with a big show on Thursday and finish the forgetful season on a positive note.

LSG out of playoffs race
Lucknow Super Giants are out of the IPL 2025 playoffs race. The Lucknow-based team suffered a humiliating defeat by six wickets in the last IPL match played against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Lucknow, which ended their hopes. In that match, openers – Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh – scored half-centuries for the Sanjiv Goenka-owned side, but their bowlers failed to contain SRH batters, who rode on Abhishek Sharma’s 20-ball-59-run knock to chase down the target of 206 runs in 18.2 overs for the loss of four wickets.
