Arshdeep comes over the wicket now, bangs in short, takes a bit of his shoulder on the way to the keeper. The fourth is outside off, back-of-a-length, Vaibhav has a poke at it, misses. A bouncer straight at the head, Vaibhav is able to block it down into the ground.
WICKET! Vaibhav cannot leave this one alone, it’s another bouncer, Vaibhav fends at it and offers a feather to Inglis.
Vaibhav Arora c Inglis b Arshdeep 0 (7)

The third is flatter and straighter, defends. SIX more! Again too full from Chahal, this time Russell dispatches this over long on. FOUR more! Wide and at a length, Russell uses his levers to whack this over covers. The last one is drifted wide, Russell leaves it thinking this is wide enough for an extra, goes just within the wide line.
Marco Jansen back into the attack. Harshit clips on the up from his midrif, gets two runs. A bouncer from Jansen to follow, Harshit misses his ramp shot. Another one banged short to Harshit, tries to nudge it over the keeper, misses.

WICKET! Chahal has his third. Rinku is done by the leg spinner. It goes through his gate and Josh Inglis does the rest.
Rinku Singh st Inglis b Chahal 2(9)
A slip and a silly point for Ramandeep Singh. GONE! A golden duck for Ramandeep. He tries to ramp sweep this through fine leg, gets it off the toe end and Shreyas Iyer moves from first slip to leg slip to catch that.
Ramandeep Singh c Shreyas b Chahal 0(1)

Maxwell to Venkatesh, clips off his pads to deep midwicket for one run. Rinku cuts the second, cannot beat the point fielder. He goes deep into his crease on the third, punches to long off for one.
Venkatesh has been given lbw! He opts for a review. He misses his sweep, closes his eyes at it while hitting and has the ball go under his bat, the ball tracker shows three reds and PBKS still hopes.
Venkatesh Iyer lbw b Maxwell 7(4)
Andre Russell at No. 7. He starts with two front-footed defences.
Chahal with his second over and he picks his second wicket! It’s Raghuvanshi! A huge breakthrough for the Kings.
Raghuvanshi c Bartlett b Chahal 37 (28)
Rinku Singh comes out to bat. Brilliant over from the tweaker!
Glenn Maxwell with his first over. A tidy over from the Australian as he leaks just three overs.
Yuzvendra Chahal brought in. OUT! Chahal traps Rahane lbw and the KKR skipper has to walk after helping his side get back on track.
Rahane lbw Chahal 17 (17)
WHAT WAS THAT, XAVIER?! The debutant will surely remember that as the ball slips from his hand and goes touches the ropes when he tries to throw it back. And that’s four overthrows, plus the single. That’s five runs off that ball.
Arshdeep with his second over. A 50-run stand has been notched up in 31 balls by Rahane and Raghuvanshi. The ship has been steadied! A relatively quieter over just after the PP.
SIX! Rahane hits it straight down the ground and almost holds that pose as the ball sails over the fences. SIX! Now Raghuvanshi hits one over mid-wicket. A mistimed shot by the youngster but it falls short a diving Shedge. Great timing as Raghuvanshi ends the PowerPlay with a exquisite cover drive for a FOUR!
Arshdeep Singh replaces Jansen. FOUR! Raghuvanshi punches it well and just beats the fielders inside the circle. Shashank was in tow but couldn’t prevent the ball from touching the ropes. Another FOUR! Arshdeep’s delivery is drifting down leg and it seems a bit of bat and pad helps it race fine to the boundary.
Bartlett continues. Rahane takes a single to get off the mark. Looks like he’ll be playing the supportive role as Raghuvanshi takes the match to the Kings? FOUR! Rahane pulls it across and there’s a misfield in the deep.
FOUR! Raghuvanshi drives well through point for a beautifully executed shot! Jansen with his second over. Another FOUR! The youngster makes space and smacks it over the fielders at point for another boundary. CLOSE CALL! Raghuvanshi almost plays the ball onto his stumps while defending.

Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine out in the middle to chase down a meagre 112. Marco Jansen with the first over. Just a couple of singles to get things going for the defending champion. First FOUR of the KKR innings as Narine smacks it and the next ball, Jansen clips the bail of his off stump!
Narine b Jansen 5 (4)
Shashank is given lbw! He goes up for a review. The delivery from Vaibhav Arora nips in off the surface, beating Shashank’s clip off his pads. That’s as plumb as a dismissal can get. Three reds on the ball tracker and Punjab’s last hope falls.
Shashank Singh lbw b Vaibhav 18 (17)
Arshdeep Singh begins with a single to long on. Bartlett is RUN OUT! A fitting end to this nightmare of an innings from PBKS. He swats the third delivery down to long on, he wants a second but Arshdeep says no. It seems he has heard the call as he pauses for a second, before going ahead and moving further out of his crease, Vaibhav collects the throw and dislodges the bails to complete the run out.
Xavier Bartlett run out (Venkatesh Iyer) 11(15)
Angkrish Raghuvanshi comes in as Impact Player for KKR. Varun Chakaravarthy goes off.

Varun for his final over. SIX! Shashank goes over covers against this full delivery, gets it to go all the way over the fence. A single with a soft push through covers on the fourth delivery. That’s the hundred for PBKS. 10 runs from the over.
Narine to Bartlett, a single with a drive to long on. Shashank is rapped on the front pad, he wants to get on the front foot and work this through on side from outside off, the impact is outside the line which saves him. A punch to long on for one run. Bartlett swipes the final delivery to long on again, one run.
Chakaravarthy to continue. Four singles in the over. Xavier Bartlett is the new batter, who picks two of these four singles.
Sunil Narine for his second over. WICKET! Shedge hands a feather to the keeper. This is wide enough to go for a cut, but Shedge only edges this behind.
Suryansh Shedge c de Kock b Narine 4(4)
Marco Jansen is the new batters. A single off his first delivery to long on. FOUR! Shashank is DROPPED! A slog sweep to Narine, this goes higher, does not have the distance, Rinku runs from deep midwicket to get under it but has the ball burst through his hands.
BOWLED! Jansen dances down the track looking to work this length ball through the on side, misses it entirely and sees his off stump rearranged.
Marco Jansen b Narine 1(2)
WICKET! Maxwell is castled! He is stuck in his crease for this wrong one, indecisive whether to go front or back and offers a nothing shot to this, the ball sneaks through his gate and hits the off stump.
Glenn Maxwell b Chakaravarthy 7(10)
Shashank Singh in at No. 8. Just four runs off the over.
Nortje returns for his second spell. FOUR! A fuller delivery and Wadhera smacks it behind point for a fizzing boundary. Another FOUR! The batter flicks it just over the fielder inside the circle at mid-wicket. OUT! Wadhera holes out to Venkatesh Iyer as Nortje picks up his first of the night.
Wadhera c Venkatesh b Nortje 10 (9)
Suryansh Shedge is the Impact Player for PBKS. Gets off the mark with a single through the off side. A bye on the final delivery, a bouncer at the body of Maxwell, who sways out of the line, de Kock can only get a hand to it due to late swing and the batters steal one run before fine leg gets to this.
Harshit with his third over. FOUR! Maxwell plays it late and guides the ball through backward point for a boundary. Great delivery from Harshit to Maxwell but Quinton de Kock fluffs his collection behind the stumps. Wide to Nehal Wadhera. Couple of d
Sunil Narine with his first over. A quick two for the batters as Ramandeep goes for the non-striker’s end for a run out but fails to get a direct hit.
Harshit continues. It’s been some really air-tight bowling from the pacer. Sometimes bowling wide of the off stump, sometimes not giving the batters any space to free their arms. And that’s the commentator’s curse as Prabhsimran guides the shorter delivery over third for a SIX! Another SIX! He uses his feet well, makes space for himself and clubs it over long off. GONE! The Ramandeep-Harshit duo strikes again! Prabhsimran cuts but he holes out to Ramandeep over at point.
Prabhsimran c Ramandeep b Harshit 30 (15)
Varun Chakaravarthy has been brought in for his first over. CLEAN BOWLED! Varun makes the ball turn sharply and Inglis’ slog sweep catches air.
Inglis b Varun 2 (6)
Harshit Rana replaces Nortje. And the Delhi bowler is welcomed by his statemate with a huge SIX! And Harshit returns the favour in the next ball! A half-hearted shot from the batter as Ramandeep takes the catch over at deep backward square leg.
Priyansh c Ramandeep b Harshit 22 (12)
It’s Shreyas Iyer on strike and Harshit almost forces his former skipper to nick one behind. WHAT WAS THAT!? RAMANDEEP TAKES A CATCH FOR THE AGES! Shreyas slaps it over point but Ramandeep runs forward and takes flight to take a wonderful catch!
Shreyas c Ramandeep b Harshit 0 (2)

Josh Inglis the newest batter at the crease and the ball moves away from him.
Vaibhav continues. CLOSE! Prabhsimran swivels and tries to scoop but doesn’t get the connection. However, there’s enough of it to take the ball past the short fine leg fielder for a FOUR! Next ball, he flicks it off his pads and clears mid-wicket for a SIX! And he doesn’t stop! The batter dances down the track and drives it through mid off for another FOUR! Not well timed but Priyansh gets enough power behind the pull shot to clear the mid on fielder for a FOUR! Some expensive over this.
Anrich Nortje with his first over. And the first ball, there’s some late seam movement and he almost forces Prabhsimran to nick one behind to the wicketkeeper. FOUR! Priyansh picks this one out well as he sends the ball sailing over the covers and over the ropes. Next ball, the Delhi batter swings for the hills but misses. Slightly back of the length ball. Slightly shorter one again and Priyansh punishes it with a well-timed pull shot past the mid on fielder for a FOUR.
Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh walk out to the middle. Vaibhav Arora with the first over. The ball is swinging away from the left handed batter as Vaibhav starts with a couple of dots. A cautious punch to mid off by Priyansh as the Kings open their account with a single. Prabhsimran comes out of his crease and defends for a single. SAFE! Priyansh swings but times it poorly. However, the ball lands in no man’s land.

Punjab Kings struggles at home, hoping to improve record against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL match.
Matches played – 33
PBKS won – 12
KKR won – 21
Last result – PBKS won by eight wickets (April 2024)
The Punjab Kings captain will take the field against Kolkata Knight Riders, a side he skippered to the IPL title last year.
A strong PBKS side has been marred by topsy turvy form so far and has picked three wins from five games. It would want to make the most of home comforts today to get back into the top four. A win would also be a chance to put the morale-crushing reverse at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad behind it.
Inconsistency has effected KKR too this year. It is yet to win two games on the bounce this season. But the defending champs would be eager to deploy its spinners on a New Chandigarh pitch that assists the slower bowlers.
