Chennai Super Kings (CSK) successfully secured a win after defeating the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Lucknow. The team have finally tasted a win after five devastating losses. LSG, on the other hand, have been handed a big loss today after three consecutive wins.
The LSG skipper finally hit his first fifty of this season as he smashed 63 (49), at a strike rate of 128.57. He was the highest scorer for his side, and his innings played a huge role for LSG in posting that fighting total of 166/7 in 20 overs.
After 15 overs, CSK were 111/5 and the momentum seemed in favour of the home side, LSG. But Shivam Dube, who is generally known as a power-hitter, played a sensible knock and remained not out on 43 off 37. He and MS Dhoni stitched an unbeaten partnership of 57 runs and sealed the win. Seeing Dhoni taking charge, he played the second fiddle role and ensured that the wicket did not fall at the other end.
It was a vintage MS Dhoni show with the bat, as he remained not out on 26 (11) in that successful run chase. In the first innings, he was brilliant as a leader with his bowling changes and field changes. Dhoni was also involved with a catch, a stumping, and a run-out. Thus, he also became the first wicketkeeper in IPL history to get involved in 200 dismissals. Ultimately, at the age of 43, Dhoni was deservingly named the Player of the Match.
